Trading partner onboarding
When a new customer or retailer comes on, we set up the connection. We work through their specs, build and test the maps, and get you certified so you can go live without weeks of back-and-forth.
EDI integration & optimization for 3PLs
ReliantShip helps third-party logistics companies onboard trading partners, fix failed EDI documents, and connect their WMS to EDI so orders, receipts, ship notices, and invoices go through the first time.
Free, with no obligation. We'll look at where your EDI is breaking and tell you what we'd fix first.
Our main work is EDI for 3PLs. We also help with customs and trade compliance, because the two often show up on the same desk.
When a new customer or retailer comes on, we set up the connection. We work through their specs, build and test the maps, and get you certified so you can go live without weeks of back-and-forth.
We find out why your 940s, 945s, 943s, 944s, 856s, and 810s are failing or getting rejected, fix the maps, and clear the backlog. Then we make sure the same errors don't come back.
We connect your warehouse management system to your EDI setup so order and inventory data moves both ways without anyone re-keying it or exporting spreadsheets.
For a set monthly fee, we watch your EDI traffic, catch failures early, and handle partner changes and map updates as they come in. You'll have someone to call when something breaks.
For 3PLs and their customers who handle imports and exports, we help with:
Warehouse orders, receipts, shipment confirmations, ASNs, and invoices are the documents we work with every day. You won't have to explain what a 940 is.
We're a small consultancy. The person who reviews your setup is the one who does the work. Your project won't get passed to a junior team.
You'll know what was broken, what we changed, and why. We document our work so you aren't dependent on us.
Most EDI consultants don't know trade compliance, and most compliance consultants don't touch EDI. We do both, which helps when shipment data and customs data have to agree.
Every engagement starts with a free 30-minute review. If we can't help, we'll tell you.
ReliantShip was founded by an EDI and trade compliance specialist based in New Jersey.
Our work is in the details of EDI and customs: building maps, onboarding trading partners, tracking down failed documents, and handling classification and import paperwork. We kept seeing the same thing at 3PLs. Good warehouse teams were losing hours to EDI problems that could be fixed, and they had no one dedicated to fixing them.
ReliantShip exists to be that someone. We're small on purpose, so we can stay close to the work and give each client direct, hands-on attention.
A 945 is the Warehouse Shipping Advice. The 3PL sends it to the customer after an order ships, confirming what went out, in what quantities, and how. If 945s are late or wrong, the customer's inventory and billing fall out of step with what actually left the building.
Mainly the warehouse set: 940 (warehouse shipping order), 943 (stock transfer shipment advice), 944 (stock transfer receipt advice), 945 (warehouse shipping advice), 856 (ship notice / ASN), and 810 (invoice). We also handle the 997 acknowledgments that go with them.
It depends on the trading partner's specs, how fast their testing team responds, and what your WMS and EDI platform can already do. A single partner with clear specs can move quickly; a large retailer with strict certification takes longer. After the free review we give you a realistic timeline for your case.
EDI for 3PLs is our main focus. We also help their customers and other shippers with customs and trade compliance, such as HTS classification and import documentation.
Usually not. We work with the systems you already have and only suggest a change if something truly can't do what your partners require.
You tell us what's breaking, we look at it with you, and we tell you what we'd fix first and roughly what it would involve. There's no cost and no obligation.
They are a pair. The 940 is the warehouse shipping order: the customer tells the 3PL what to pick, pack, and ship. The 945 is the warehouse shipping advice: the 3PL reports back what actually shipped, including quantities, carrier, and tracking. If a 940 comes in and no 945 goes back, something stopped between the two, often an order hold, a mapping problem, or a confirmation tied to the wrong warehouse event.
A 945 goes from the 3PL back to its customer to confirm a shipment. An 856, the advance ship notice or ASN, goes to the retailer receiving the goods and describes what is on the truck, down to cartons and labels. In many setups the customer builds the 856 from the 945, so a late or wrong 945 can turn into a late or wrong ASN.
The usual causes are an ASN sent after the truck arrives, carton label numbers (SSCC) that don't match the ASN, quantities that don't add up through the hierarchy, a wrong PO or ship-to number, or missing carrier and weight details. Check the 997 first to see whether the file was rejected for its structure, then any 824 or retailer report for business-rule errors.
Yes. We work with the WMS and EDI provider you already use, including Extensiv 3PL Warehouse Manager, and help connect warehouse events like receipts and shipments to the right outbound documents. We're based in New Jersey and work with 3PLs anywhere in the US.
Tell us a little about your operation and what's going wrong with your EDI. We'll set up a 30-minute call, look at your setup with you, and give you an honest view of what we'd fix first. There's no cost and no obligation.
In your email, it helps to include your company, your WMS / EDI platform, and what's going on (e.g., "945s failing for one retailer," "onboarding a new customer next month").
